Jon has invited me to join the team to help run the social side of the club; I have been given the title of ‘events co-ordinator’, so if it all goes pear shaped at any event you will see me running very fast into the distance chased by you lot probably. Let me quickly introduce myself, my names Daz Gray, I’m sure a few of you will already know me one way or another I’m usually found lurking in many kite forums or on the beach as soon as the winds doable. I kitesurf / kite a.t.b/ surf / bodyboard / skate etc. so any help I can be for anything just come and ask, I’m always happy to help and you can contact me through the shop by leaving a message or email me direct at dazgray@live.co.uk
Anyway back to business.....myself and Jon have had a chat about days out I thought could be fun to not only arrange some great kiting days out, weekends away etc. but to also arrange a few active days away from the kiting. Here’s a brief run through of a few ideas and web links. I’m looking for a bit of feedback as to who may be interested in coming along just so we have a rough idea before I go wasting lots of time and finding nobody wants to play. Dates are yet to be set for any of these until I have rough numbers.

Haredown ATB
'All-terrain boarding aka mountain boarding or off road boarding is the fastest growing extreme sport to hit the hills and mountains around the UK. The hardware used is a metre long deck fixed to four pneumatic wheels and ridden much like a snowboard. Freestyle and downhill competitions take place each year all over the UK from the Scottish Highlands to the south coast as well as worldwide and the numbers of competitors is rising dramatically. All-terrain boarding is suitable for all ages from as young as six or seven and with a little instruction it is not difficult to master the basics.'
(Taken from the Haredown sport website).

Sound fun? I have visited this centre a few times and it’s a great afternoon out.
You go along as a group (we would book in advance) they supply all the safety pads, helmet etc. which must be worn and supply the board. After your brief intro on the nursery slope their instructor runs you through the basics if you haven’t been before. Then he takes you on the back of a pick up truck to the top of the runs and rides down with you teaching you the course. Once completed you will get as many runs down as you like within the time booked or until your muscles hurt too much. Lifts back to the top are on the back of a pick up !! That’s right no walking, trust me you wouldn’t want to walk up each time it's along way.
Any way this centre opens end of March, so look out around then for info on the forum or via email. If you want to check out there website go to:

Other days we thought might be fun are:

- Cornwall trips fancy going away with the team and doing some hard kiting/surfing and drinking?

- Thorpepark cable tow this will get your board skills improved or a good laugh to be had anyway.

- Paintballing day I’m sure you all know what that’s about your chance to get your own back on the team.

- Go carting this would be full days racing on a knock out basis with trophies and champers presented to the winners also a great day

Info on the other events listed will follow shortly please give us any comments or ideas if you have something you think could be fun just drop us an email.

Along with all of this watch the forum for news on more holidays abroad that Southcoast Stormriders are going to be organising.
Look forward to meeting you all eventually.
Happy kiting
Daz
